AGE tries to make sure that the presentation of all the contents and features of the website is independent of the physical mechanisms and web browsers, coded using open-source technical standards, and accessible for browsers adapted for users with physical or mental disabilities, defects, or with a limited sensory capacity.
|
Content items (images, text, structures, links) are written in compliance with Priority Level A of W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Style sheets (CSS, another W3C standard) are used to assign the presentation formats and to distribute the contents and links to the different pages. |
It is advisable to use the most recent versions of browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Netscape Navigator, Opera, Konqueror, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.
The European Union Council Resolution of March 25th 2002 encourages all Member States to consider the necessity of making digital content accessible. Furthermore, following this recommendation, Law 34/2002 of July 11th, of Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce, states that Public Administrations will adopt the necessary measures in order to make the information on their websites accessible to handicapped or elder people, in accordance with the accessibility criteria generally recognized, before December 31th 2005.
In line with this aim, the design of AGE's website was created in conformity with the accessibility recommendations for Priority Level 1 of W3C guidelines WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative).
