KALANDRAKA makes ‘Books for Dreaming' with its narrative and visual reading. Since it started working in April 2nd -International Children's Book Day- in 1998, KALANDRAKA brings to the readers, both children and adults, the possibility of accessing to the stories by the most important authors, the classic tales and picture books that point up because of their artistic and literary quality.
After more than ten years working, its production enriched with books published in seven languages. KALANDRAKA also increased its trading territory: to the home market, it joined Portugal, Latin America, as well as the English-speaking and the Asian ones. KALANDRAKA's international influence was completed with the creation of new branches both in Mexico and Italy.
The edition and the design departments are in charge of the creative area of this cultural factory that works in permanent contact with authors, illustrators, translator and agents. KALANDRAKA's bet on picture books involves a challenge for getting that text and pictures join together in a perfect communication, so children can be able to understand the stories even before they learn reading.
This bet has its main expression in the anual announcement of the International Prize for Picture Books Compostela, within the Educational Department of the City Council of Santiago de Compostela.
