Hércules de Ediciones is born in 1985 as the result of a personal effort by the current president of the board of directors in the company, Francisco Rodríguez Iglesias, who tries to promote the Galician culture from the publishing world. With that aim, he solidly gathers a group of hopeful Galicians around him. They come from the sector of the book and intend, through this company, to provide Galicia with a work based on topics which help to understand deeply those matters of interest for our community as an exceptional country.

The most outstanding and important work of this company is, undoubtedly, the Proxecto Galicia (‘Galicia Project').

The most distinguished intellectuals in this land join together around this (among them, Mr. Xosé Ramón Barreiro Fernández, Mr. Fernando González Laxe, Mr. Xosé Manuel González Reboredo, Mr. Darío Villanueva Prieto, Mr. Francisco Javier Río Barja, Mr. Xulio Correa Corredoira, Mr. Francisco Díaz-Fierros Viqueira, Mr. Siro López Lorenzo, Mr. Isaac Díaz Pardo, Mr. José Antonio García Caridad and Mr. Carlos Acuña Rubio and, until the moment of their decease-1996 and 2003 respectively-, Mr. Xosé Filgueira Valverde and Mr. Domingo García-Sabell). More than 53 volumes published, make of this project a publishing attempt without precedents in Galicia.
